Okocha and Kanu Trapped in Turkey Failed Coup.

Nigeria Football Legends Okocha and Kanu have reportedly to be trapped in Turkey over the failed coup on Friday, July 15 that led to the death of over 200 people as well as a mammoth 7,500 people getting injured. The duo were in that country for a Samuel Eto’o charity game which has now been postponed due to the siege. .

The duo were in Turkey to honour their Cameroonian legend and friend Samuel Eto’o whose organised charity match was billed to hold on Saturday, July 16 in Antalaya. Vanguard reports that Eto’o has now postponed the charity game-which is to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of his  Fundación Privadao- following the unrest in Turkey. It was also reported that a group of armed men also took control police station in Yerevan, Armenia’s capital, on Sunday, July 17 and the attempt has been condemned to be part of the planned coup against the government. The gunmen captured several hostages and consequently demand the release of “political prisoners”, including opposition leader and military commander Jirair Sefilian who was arrested in June this year. Recall that on Friday, July 15, an army group in Turkey says it has taken control of the country with bridges closed in Istanbul, while aircraft are flying low over Ankara, Turkey’s capital. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim earlier denounced an “illegal action” by some military group stressing it was not a coup. He said that the government remained in charge.
